Used RV Inspection – Don’t Leave Home Without One!
RV Inspection Service
Do you have the desire to travel? Do you want to see the beautiful areas of our great USA? Do you want to create lasting memories with family and friends? Do you want to enjoy the freedom of doing that in an RV? Well, we want you to do that as well!
Buying (and maintaining) an RV is a huge investment! Whether you are shopping for a new RV or a previously owned RV, you want to make sure that everything is properly working and in tip-top shape. Many individuals place their used units up for sale and they think that it is in the best shape not realizing the potential problems they could be passing on to their buyers. New RVs are not always perfect either, there are kinks, and that is why the manufacturer provides a year warranty. The biggest problem afterward is getting it into a shop timely. Do you know what to look for when you are buying a new or used RV?
This is where an initial RV Inspection can help! We don’t want you getting into a money pit and want you to avoid the potential financial nightmare! Why not hire an independent RV Inspector to assist you with this process?
Prior to purchasing and getting past all the cool bells and whistles of the rig, the floor plan, and the extra bathroom, it’s important to know the RV’s actual condition before making an offer. Please keep in mind that the goal of an RV Inspection is not just to inspect the unit’s equipment, but to also educate you, the potential buyer, about the RV’s condition. This is a snapshot of what the RV is revealing now and what potential items could be an issue later.
This is very similar to having a home inspection completed prior to buying that new/used home! Why would you not do the same thing for your RV? While a stick-built home is stationary, so many other components of a moveable RV can be jarred loose possibly becoming a safety hazard. You want your family safe!
Patriot 360 has a Certified NRVIA Inspector that will provide you with a thorough, independent, and unbiased inspection of the equipment and will visually examine more than 500 different items both inside and outside of an RV. During/After the inspection, the RV Inspector will explain the condition of the RV. You will also be provided with a proprietary RV Inspection report that is generated (with photos) to help you make an informed purchase decision or negotiate the potential repairs with the owner/business.
Without this knowledge, your traveling dreams could become nightmares!
RV Sellers
Next to a home, buying an RV is one of the biggest investments that most people will ever make in their life and as a seller, you can help to provide prospective buyers with peace of mind by having your RV professionally inspected by a Patriot 360 Certified NRVIA Inspector.
Having a complete RV Inspection allows you to plan ahead for any repairs that may affect the selling price. Your buyer will feel more confident about purchasing your RV and the inspection report can help reduce post-sale issues or provide you with a better negotiation stance. Your inspector will provide you with a comprehensive and easy-to-read report detailing everything that was examined.
Prior to the inspection:
Prepare a list of questions or concerns about the RV and provide them in advance. This will help ensure that your concerns are addressed and that we can make special arrangements if necessary.
Ensure all areas of the RV are accessible to the inspector. For example, if the washer/dryer is in a closet, all clothes and belongings should be removed from that closet.
Be sure all electrical outlets are accessible so that all appliances inside and outside the RV can be tested.
The RV should be completely hooked up to all services so everything can be tested (electric, water, sewer, propane, etc). Your inspector will call to verify these items are complete prior to arriving for your scheduled appointment.
During the inspection:
The Inspector will typically conduct the inspection solo (after the initial meeting with potential questions). This allows the Inspector to focus the full time (8-10 hours) on the potential 500 items that will be reviewed. Then, we will be able to provide the client a better understanding of the following items:
· See the condition of each key component throughout the RV firsthand, giving you a better understanding of the RV and the resulting inspection report.
· Help ease any concerns about the findings that may seem distressing on paper but may just be superficial.
· Save time and avoid frustration by learning about the operation of various appliances and components.
· Learn about maintenance needs, procedures and explain how and when to check items that require periodic monitoring.
· Have all your questions and concerns addressed.
After concluding the inspection:
Once the Inspector has completed the inspection, they will provide you with information on how long the report will take to complete. They may point out some major issues at that point, but your inspection report will be very thorough. When you receive your copy (typically through email), read your inspection report. If you have concerns, questions or need clarification on something, no matter how minor the issue, do not hesitate to check back with your inspector. At Patriot 360 we want to make sure that you know we are always willing to help broaden your knowledge no matter how big or small the question is!
The DON’Ts
Make sure you contact a qualified (and preferably certified) trained professional to inspect your RV. You want that confidence!
While RV Technicians are a great source of repair information, please do not consider an RV tech to do your inspection. Their opinion may not always be unbiased.
Also, do not take the word of an RV dealership either! Unless the RV Inspector is a third party, offering unbiased observations, you will not know if the dealership inspection services are accurate because most are RV Technicians. They may then try to sell you something that you don’t need. If you buy from an RV dealership (especially after an inspection), always, always, always, ask for the repair sheet, this way you can see what they have repaired/replaced and is warrantied.
